Ring Tum Diddy !

What better way to RING in the New Year (or put the old one out of its misery), then some good 'ol Ring Tum. This is a Skelton family recipe that's been passed down for years. My great grandparents used to have some of it when entertaining their friends from the Country Club of Virginia. Its a nice way to relax ! Now, most people will be having black eyed peas and stewed tomatoes tomorrow, but I much prefer this. Its quick and easy to fix, and lasts for days!

Made By You:How To Make Ring Tum Diddy

You'll need:

* 6 large Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese , Black Rhine Cheese would be even better!
* 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
* 1 tsp Beer , Pabst Blue Ribbon if you can!
* 1 Box of Saltine Crackers
* 2 large 2 large Onions
* 1 large 1 Large Can of Tomato Soup
* 1 small 1 can of Tomato Paste

Mama For President !

Well, Good Lord! Now, thats a lady who could really run our country right. The elections are over, its true, but I tell you one thing- Mama would have made a great president. And she wouldn't put up with Obama. She would say "Get that fruitcake out of my house!". Mama sure could do a lot of good for our country. She is a moral upright citizen, a long time member of the church ladies league, and she knows how to deal with ingrate son-in-laws , reform school dropouts, and big haired trailer trash housewives! Yeah, Mama sure would get my vote. Oh, well maybe in 2012. She can run with Sarah Palin. We can get some estrogen in the White House.

Pancakes and Friends

I got up this morning and met a good online buddy at Aunt Sarah's Pancake House on W. Broad St. He was with his parents , who came from Illinois and they were visiting Norfolk, so decided to stop by Richmond for awhile. I was awfully glad to meet them. They were nice folks, and we had a good time conversing. I had the chocolate chip pancakes- but only 1/4 of the entire thing, because I know how much I just love to eat pancakes! But they seemed to enjoy it too. Joel is a genius with computers, and is Mac savvy. I sure wish I were as smart as he is. But then again, we all have different smarts. I showed him the new Mac Laptop (well its 2001 new), and he wasn't too impressed, but not sick to his stomach from it.

Here we are in front of Aunt Sarah's

Later on, I went with Gretchen to The Targets on Forest Hill Ave, where she returned the sweater and sweats I got her that didn't fit. Gretchen is a fairly tall woman- close to 5'8. So I think I bought her regular or something. But she got store credit and will get what she needs later. I was looking at Electric Shavers- not that I really like them, but I need some extra help. So this man there said they were cheaper at Walmarts. So we went over to Walmarts and I got myself a Remington Shaver. Now Walmarts really gives me the willies- its over crowded will all types of people, and it seems kinda like the aftermath of a hurricane, but they do have some good deals every now and then. But its still one of those places, I usually avoid. After that, we went to Chic-Fil-A, where I had a Southwestern Grill chicken salad and a sweet tea. Gretchen had the chicken sandwich with fries and a sweet tea . Yes, I know, I do eat out a lot. Its amazing that I have managed to keep my figure!

Sister Sally wanted to go to the thrift store, so later this afternoon we took her to The Love Of Jesus Thrift on Midlothian. There I got an LP of Anne Murray's Greatest Hits, A 45 of Johnny Cash, and a 5$ black and white TV set. It was heaven! Following the thrift store adventure, I headed to Myrna's boots and bits, where I got a shoe horn for my old riding boots (I been thinking about ridin' a horse again soon), and then we headed to Stony Point for a coffee at Starbucks. It was a nice day today!

Merry Christmas, Y'all !

Waking Up This Morning

Oooh, what's in here?

Oh, a book about sick, twisted people. Something I can relate to!

Going through the presents: Some Deodorant, a new neck tie, a lighthouse calendar, some gloves , bedroom slippers, hmm.....Money.

And a beautiful Afghan made by my good friend, Ardith of Kansas. Isn't she talented?

Some more of our Douglas Fir

Dad opens up his present

A very nice Christmas, indeed. Last night I sang at my church for their Christmas Eve service. I sang "O Holy Night". They had many other soloists and they all did a great job. The Pastor was getting over the flu, so he didn't say a whole lot.

My church looks beautiful at Christmas time

Then I went with Gretchen to St. James's on Franklin St. They were pretty nice there too. I almost got a ticket last night because I drove home without my headlights on. I just had the low beams. They probably thought I was some drunkard or something. I'm glad they realized I was just comin' home from church. We had a delicious pork loin dinner- furnished by Ukrop's. It was great. Later, we're going to have some Chocolate Cake and then I'm going to take a nice long nap. Im forgetting about all my cares and woes today. And I still have 11 more days to celebrate!

Merry Christmas!

Cursed with Hat Hair !

I really don't understand it, but I have to wear this stupid cap all day at work for Tropical Smoothie and when I take it off, my hair looks like a door mat! I just can't believe it. Its all pressed down and and matted. Also it gets so greasy under there too. Anyways, I was so tired today because I only got 2 hours of sleep last night and I had to work from 10 AM til 5 PM. I gave the manager a Christmas present- which I think she liked. It was those kind of apricot and apple candies that have powdered sugar on them. I was going to give her a gift card, but I thought that would be kind of inappropriate since they are supposed to give money to me. Not the other way 'round. Anyways, I am thankful for a lot that the Lord has blessed me with. As the year is coming to a close, I can be thankful for my wonderful weight loss, my amazingly great complexion, my new songs which seem to be gaining new appreciation from fans each day, and my ability wipe off the pie from my face that life throws at me. One of the nice things that happened to day at work was Katie, my manager got saved. A lady asked her if she would go to heaven when she died, and she didn't know, so the lady prayed the Sinner's Prayer with her . I was very happy about that.

We went to Lewis Botanical Gardens last night. I have been going there for the past 9 years every Christmas time. I personally do not think its worth the 10$. I'm sorry, but no. They simply need to make it bigger and better if they want to charge that. They need live music, minstrel singers decked out in 19th Century Clothing, and a huge Christmas tree outside. I think they are highly overrated, and I think maybe 5$ is all I would pay for it . I may make a suggestion or two to them for next year. Also a horse drawn carriage ride would be a nice added attraction, and they should keep the old guest house open with FREE hot chocolate and cookies, not charging like they always do. That is highway robbery! After we went there, we went up old Rt 1 to Virginia Center Commons Mall, and stopped at the Barnes and Noble there. I got a Peppermint Mocha and a brownie. I looked around the store. That Barnes and Noble I get a much better vibe from than the one in Short Pump. Gretchen liked it too. It was mighty cold last night, as we drove back into town. It was nice when we came home, into the warmth of my house in the Fan, where I was greeted by my greyhound, Mosby. I am thankful that I have a roof over my head- even if it is on Floyd Ave. I just wish that I wouldn't be cursed with this dang hat hair!

I wonder why Atheists are so offended by Christianity..

Its funny, but you put some Atheists together and most of their griping comes against The Holy Bible, the teachings of Jesus Christ, and the Christian church. I find it a tad ironic, since Jesus himself was Anti-Religion and did not like the Pharisees and their theocracy and judgements. You see, they never seem to have an issue with Buddha, Islam, Muslim Terrorists, or Hindu. Thats because in their heart, they too know that those false religions pose no threat to them. However, Christianity being truth and light- that is a great threat to them. They want to run and hide from God- hide from the light. I'm sure there are many fine Atheists and Agnostics out there- some are very nice people, do great things for others, and are a benefit to our society. Yet there are two main issues I have with them. Firstly, their idea about being a good person is good enough, and all that matters. Secondly, their idea of putting faith in "humankind". You see, that is a scary thought right there . Putting faith in Humankind, is putting faith in horrible people- such as Hitler, for example. How can anyone be so trusting as to trust mere mortals with the hope and future of tommorow?

Jesus Christ was man, yet he was without sin. He was perfection, but experienced temptation being made whole in the flesh. This was necceesary so that God's son could experience what it was like to be human, and also to die for our natural sins. Whether anyone is saved or not- the point is we ARE ALL sinners. In each of us, is always a part that is not truthful, that has alterior motives, and that lies. Deception is Satan's ultimate weapon against us. What I feel is that Atheists believe the ultimate lie from Satan- that we are our own God. That there is no Creator, and that what we do here does not matter, and we should put faith in ourselves, because we have all the answers . That kind of arrogance is right disturbing.

Because God loves us so much, he sent his only begotten son to die for us- that we shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Our good works, our kind deeds, no matter how pure, no matter how well intentioned, are like wet rags in the eyes of our Father. Why? Because he is so pure and sinless, that even our good works have the stain of sin on them. And that is why, friends, that we need our Saviour, Jesus Christ- to pay the price for all our sins. For without Him, we stand alone and must take on every sin. What it means to not perish- is that Hell, is not quite eternal, in that those who enter in, eventually cast into the lake of fire, shall perish there as if they had never existed at all. Isn't that a horrible thought? God does not want to force anyone who does not want to be with Him, to enter heaven. That is why we have our own choices. He does not send people to hell. People choose to live without God, and without Jesus.

Atheists are no worse than any Christian, Jew, Hindu, or any human being imaginable. Because every single one of us , is a sinner. I know that Atheists would like to think that this is all there is. But in their limited imaginations, they cannot fathom other demensions. Denial is also a weapon the enemy uses. Its an affirmation to me- that Satan the Father of all lies- not only hates Christians- he hates ALL human beings. He wants to collect as many souls as possible for his selfish purposes. I hope and pray that people can turn to Jesus before its too late. We have so little time here on earth to get right with God. We just never know when our time here is up.

Singing in High Cotton....

I sang with my church over at Bruton Parish in Colonial Williamsburg last night. The church is mighty fancy- and they had all the decorations out. The acoustics are phenomenal being such an old church an all- even though its a fake remake of the Colonial time period. I get a feeling they are so touchy there. I remember when I was 10 years old, I tried to play the Harpsichord after one of their "candlelight" services, and the manager guy or whatever in charge, grabbed me by the arm and told me to get away from it. I guess he didn't appreciate my young talent! Anyhow, they have performed there for over 20 years each Christmas. We did a lot of different stuff- including a German Number called "Morganstern"- which was sung beautifully by one of our star Sopranos , Megan Fullterton. I don't know any German, but pretty much you just kinda mime the words and end on 'Shclein" or "Komm Her Mein" or whatever those people say over there. It was a beautiful service, I think we sounded really good this year too. After the show was over, I went with Gretchen to eat at Friendly's , instead of Cracker Barrel, with the rest of the choir. I wish I had went with the choir, but we wanted to try something else this year. I had a cheeseburger with fries, and some soft serve ice cream for dessert. It wasn't too bad, but Cracker Barrel probably would have tasted better.

Then this morning we sang some of Bruton Parish stuff for church. Our Pastor is at home sick as a dog with the flu- a 103 degree temperature and all. But we managed to fill most of the service with music. Later after church, I went with Gretchen and ate at Strawberry Street Cafe where I had the Gourmet Sandwich and some sweet tea. Then we took Mosby for a walk to Carytown. The tree fell over last night, but we fixed it and it looks much more straight now. I guess you don't want to have a gay looking tree! Anyways, jokes aside, I am looking forward to Christmas, and I feel much more relaxed now. I sure hope I can get a bonus at work this Christmas, but so far all they gave me was a 6$ gift card for a smoothie- and I really don't like smoothies anyhow.

Let's all go back to the 1950s!

Picture life in 1950s USA. America was booming then and the world was relatively peaceful. It seemed like we were full of potential and could reach for the stars. It was such a care free, laid back, happy time. I sure do wish it were the good 'ol days. Of course, I wasn't alive in the 50s. Or the 60s, or 99% of the 1970s... But I still do wish it were that good 'ol time when people were polite, had manners, and went to church on Sunday morning. Picture life in Richmond back in those days. It was in the summer of 1959 under a magnolia tree, that my father proposed to my mother in Monroe Park . It was midnight, under the tree. Imagine that. See, back in those days, you could sit out in Monroe Park without worrying about robbed or murdered. Now granted, I have lived in Richmond for the past 10 years, and I've never once been robbed or murdered. But I still don't feel that safe. Back in those days, they knew how to keep things safe and clean. They knew how to handle riff raff. It seemed like the 1950s was a true Utopia in American History. People got great big station wagons and had houses with white picket fences, and tv dinners! You could turn on the TV without hearing people curse like a Sailor . There wasn't any "reality TV" unless you count 'Whats My Line'. People dressed up back then. The men wore nice suits and the women actually dressed like women- they wore dresses! They didn't seem to mind staying at home and taking care of their children. Not that there's anything wrong with women the work place, but it did seem to just work out better that way. Nowadays, people dress like they've just been fishing. Teenagers are wild eyed and crazy. They scare me to death! Teenagers back in the 1950s, on the other hand, knew how to have clean fun. They had respect for their elders.

I just love watching re-runs of Leave It To Beaver. I sure do wish folks would be like that today. Oh, well I can only hope. Now everything is a mess. The big government and those bleeding heart liberals couldn't leave well enough alone. Yes, today everyone seems to have a foul potty mouth, and forget how lucky they are to live in this great country of ours. I do love America- the way it used to be. I would give anything to go back to those happy times. Anyone who lived through that Era should consider themselves extremely lucky!

Step Into Christmas

When I was working as Seasonal Help 2 Christmases ago at Barnes and Noble in Short Pump, they played this song over and over and over and over again . When I heard it, I thought it was one of Elton's new songs. I had no idea it was from the 70s. Anyways, I couldn't get it out of my head, so I had to go out and get the 45

Today wasnt too bad. I had to go with Gretchen to the Alltell store on W. Broad St. She had lost her other phone. It was a Samsung. We couldn't find it anywhere, so we got another one. This one is in light blue. I hope we find the other one. I hope its not in the hands of some sick pervert or something. After we got the phone we ate at Chic-Fil-A where I had a chicken grilled sandwich and a sweet tea. Chic-Fil-A is a Christian restaurant and closed on Sundays. Its also the least fattening of fast food places. So eat there if you want to eat fast food.

Last night I went with Gretchen to St. James's Episcopal church for a light supper. They just had sub sandwiches and chips. They charged 5$ I never heard of churches doing that for food (mine certainly doesn't do it). I suppose its an Episcopalian thing- although I was raised an Episcopalian. My mother was Baptized at St. James's , but didn't really attend services as a kid that much. They are very nice there, but the church itself has somewhat of a haughty spirit.

O Christmas Tree

Here's our tree this year. We got it at Snead's Nursery. The Cornucopias were hand made by my grandmother who was an artist

Me putting the finishing touches on it

The dining room tree

And a new Hi Fi in the parlor for which to play Christmas music on

I feel much better today. I think I just ate somethin' bad. I had to entertain at a party last night in Hopewell. They had a real fancy house- made me feel as poor as a church mouse. But I am greatful- it could be worse, and even though we live in a modest row house on Floyd Ave and don't have any hired help, at least I have my own bathroom. I am thankful for that. Well, I have just about all my Christmas shopping done. A few more stuff to get here and there. Sometimes Christmas is just a pain because you miss the whole point of it. I feel kinda blue today, and I hope that goes away, because I want to enjoy the Christmas Season this year. I think I'll write a new song called "A Very Richmond Christmas". I am working on another Christmas Special for next year- its about Christmas in Richmond. I sure hope PBS might pick it up. Even though they are liberal, they do have good programming.

Almost Fired !

Well, I just nearly got fired today. I was feelin' so sick to my stomach (I'm only a tad better now), and so I called in sick to work. Well nobody was there at the store, so I left 2 messages. It was before 9 AM, and my shift began at 9:30- just a half hour before opening time. I felt really sick- stomach cramps, nausea, etc, so I just went back to bed. My manager called and I didn't answer because I was in the bathroom or something. So I had my sister call back that I had the stomach flu. They claimed its a no-show, since they never got a message I was sick. I guess my desperate pleas didn't go through. Their policy is if you don't show up for work without at least calling in, you are automatically terminated. So I called back again, and the phone was busy, and I left another message. Somehow, after that, the other 2 messages went through. So she called and said I was basically un-fired, and I can come back into work on Friday.

I sure was right upset- not so much about the being fired thing, but how my Daddy would react. He gets all flustered and threatens to take away my American Express card if I lose my job. So anyways, at least I still have both my job and my AMEX card. I am feeling okay, and I still have to entertain at a party tonight. Its for a Christmas sing-along. Since the show must go on, and I feel okay, I'm going ahead with it. Normally, though, I would just stay in bed. We got our Christmas tree yesterday. Maybe all that decorating and all wore me down

Mudhouse Flop

Well, I just got back from playing the Mudhouse Coffee shop in Charlottesville. Now the venue itself is pretty decent- a small coffee shop tucked away near the Regal Cinema on the Downtown Mall. Tonight was packed with patrons, and many people came in. The only problem was, I was not geared up right tonight. Not by a country mile. I just plumb was all over the place. Not so much my voice- which was shaky actually- but my keyboard playing was off. My fingers simply wouldn't do what they do so naturally , and usually somethin' I don't have to think about. My tempos were not always steady, my transitions not as smooth, my left hand was jumpin' up the right, and I totally messed up the key changed on "Those Bad Things You Do". I have never done that in my life! Well, the audience was kind and forgiving- I even got 5$ in the tip jar and people were noticing my 45s- but in my heart I was feelin not on tonight at all. Such a shame, because I promoted the heck out of the show- puttin' up flyers and all, driving up there myself, and decking UVA with my posters, and listing it in the local papers. Maybe I sounded a lot better than it felt- but it didn't feel that good.

Mr. Nick from The Midnight BBQ, was gracious enough to stop by for the end of my set. He's very nice, and seems to like the theme song I had written for the show. They might like to film me playing it. I think that was generous of him to do that- I just hope that the studio version turns out okay. Maybe my Mudhouse flounder was due to how many shows I was playing this week- mostly Christmas parties where I was the "background entertainment. One party in Hopewell on Monday , then Weston Manor on Thursday night (during a soaking wet rain storm), and then Friday at The Hermitage. When I'm in the background, and just light singing and playing, its kind of a different show then when I'm at the forefront and doing my original songs that I have written and performing in my natural style. Of course at The Mudhouse- I'm mostly background- but I'm still more in my performance mode. I just felt i let my people down. The audience seemed to like it- and told me so as they left, but I just felt I wasn't really on tonight. At all. Oh well, Charlottesville may not be ready for 'ol Meade Skelton anyhow. I know that for some reason, I have played the Mudhouse before, and I don't usually feel I fit there. But the girl at the counter did tell me I was one of the better musicians shes heard there in awhile. That was nice of her- but I just didn't feel like they will be havin' me back anytime soon.

Shopping For Love !

Here's a new tune I wrote, recorded live at my record single release party last month:

The band really adds so much flavor to my songs, and its such a thrill that they can pick them up so fast. We had guest star Dennis Elliott playin' on fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and banjo. It was a swell night. If only more people came! It was about 30 people at most that night. But then again, if my name had of been Jason Mraz, Susan Greenbaum, or Elliott Yamin- basically any "famous" local, I'm sure they would have TIVO'd their reality shows long enough to get over to the show.

Anyways, I'm playing at Weston Manor Plantation tomorrow night. Its an old plantation in Hopewell. They want me to play some Christmas tunes while they chow down on H'dourves and such. I will have to use my keyboard since it will be outside and they won't have a piano. Luckily the weather this week is back to normal temperatures so I won't be freezing my fanny off. I sure am looking forward to it. Weston Manor sounds high cotton!

Halfway in the Christmas Spirit...

I'm not quite there yet. I think that most people around here seem to be lackluster about Christmas. Its not quite the same this year. Hmmm.. I wonder why. I don't suppose the horrible outcome of the recent elections has anything to do with it? Or does it? Impending doom can put the damper on the jolliest of people during the Christmas Season.. Oh , well I certainly won't go Ba Hum Bug. Unless, some clown tries to steal my radio attenas again..

I entertained at a party in Hopewell last night. It went right well and I made about 50$. It was not in some peckerwood place either (lets face it- its Hopewell- even people in Petersburg look down on it!). Okay, even people in Colonial Heights look down on it ! No, really Hopewell isn't all that bad... Okay, so it was at a club house in a development called Cobblestone. I did mostly Christmas tunes. Old upright piano- no microphone, people talkin', yet they could hear me just fine. They had some delicious food there too. Some one told me I sounded a lot like John Denver. I get that a lot.

Other singers I have been compared to:
Elton John (Oh, please!)
Billy Joel (Oy vey!)
Meatloaf (Sometimes, maybe)
Roy Orbison (Yes, thank you!)
Dwight Yoakam (eh)
Elvis Presley (Sure, if he sang 2 octaves higher)
Jim Reeves (Now, this is a compliment!)
A Male Laura Branigan (What????)
A Male Patsy Cline (Yeah, I can dig that)

And so on. Just about every popular singer who has ever had a top 40 hit. I really thought I just sound like plain 'ol Meade Skelton- and I certainly hope so, because I want to be an original. Whats the point of being a singer, if you sound like a poor carbon copy of someone else? Id rather stink to high heavens and sound like myself , then be a 2nd rate carbon copy of someone else. Anyways, aside from that, it went okay.

I had to work tonight, but just 3 hours. We got a bit of a rush, and it does become a pain when I have to actually make food for people. I wish I could just tell them to go to Little Ceasers or Taco Bell and get a burrito or somethin'. But I reckon, I'll have to deal with this til something else comes along. I did some Christmas shopping- not a whole lot , but a little. Mailed a present to Nicole Kidman. And one for Suzy Bogguss- I met her in person 3 years ago at a show in Alexandria. Shes awfully cute and nice!

Grand Illumination

I went to church this mornin' and it sure was cold! I was freezing my panties off. Anyways, we sang "Prepare The Royal Highway" for Advent this morning, in choir. I went home and had some brunch. That included a Belgian Waffle, spoon bread, bacon, sausage, and 2 eggs over easy. Then I was tired so I took a power nap. Later on Gretchen and I went over to Williamsburg. It was cold over there too. We stayed at the Hospitality House Hotel and sat by the fire and nice fake Christmas tree they had in the entry hall. We were kinda hungry and still had time, so we went over to the College Deli, where I got a veggie burrito, and Gretchen got a chicken burrito. The service there isn't too great, and the food tastes kinda like The Hollywood Grill , but it serves its purpose. Then in due time, it was near 6:15, so we headed over to the Palace Green to watch the works. The fireworks came from 3 directions, and there sure were a lot of people. I hate the large crowds- especially when its cold weather. But actually, it was worth seeing everything lit up in the sky like that. Kind of gives you a heart warming feeling.

After that we stopped at the college bookstore, and then headed over to Friendly's for dessert. Friendly's is actually a Northern chain restaurant- but they do serve sweet tea. I was very good and just got a 2 scoop Sundae- with M and M's. It was a nice way to end the evening.

Horsein' Around

We had a gig out in New Kent County for a trail ride. It was pretty dang cold, but we had a nice fire going in the fireplace. The farm was beautiful- our setting overlooked a large lake, and the cove was all decorated for Christmas. We set up in a little bit of time, and did a Christmas Set for the riders. They were eating and stomping their feet and havin' a good time. Even the horses were getting into it- letting out some neighs here and there. I did "Two Step 'Round The Christmas Tree". Aside from Christmas tunes we also did our usual stuff- along with my songs like "Running On Empty", and we always open with "Love Is A Rose". We keep getting tighter band which is nice. Later, I stopped with Ron and Larry and we got something to eat at the Subway. We used a 20$ in the tip jar to pay for our meal. On the way back and forth , I listened to BBN Radio. I always love that station- its right uplifting and they play all Christian music. I enjoy listening to "Tinyburg Tales" and "Adventures in Oddessy". I think more people should tune in to that station, but they're probably just listenin' to some jungle music on the Pop station.

Anyways, it did take us quite awhile to unload when we got back to church. It was already dark by 5 P.M. as we pulled in front. After it was over , I went home and watched "His Girl Friday"- with Cary Grant and Roslyn Russel on my VHS tape player machine. I've gotton really high tech! Then I took Mosby for a walk. I sure hope we enjoy tomorrow. We're gonna go see Grand Illumination in Colonial Williamsburg. Its usually packed- but this year it will probably be easier to find parking, with what the bad economy and all.

I'M HOT !

Okay, not really. But I did make the "Hot List" on The Richmond Music Journal . I'm on there at Number 19. EDIT: Currently Number 12 as of December 4th, 2008. It doesn't really mean anything, its just a nice Ego boost. How many times your name is mentioned and dropped in local papers, internet websites, etc. And Lord knows thats been going on lately. Most people think I'm some kind of quasi parody of some right winged nut case wannabee Country singer. Like Steven Colbert meets Andy Kauffman. Well, ain't that a kick in the head? Anyways, I really don't care. I'm just being myself, and I'm probably the most genuine person anyone could ever meet. Well.. most of the time anyways.

I got a new TV today. Well almost new- about 3 years old. I hate HDTVs and the other one we have is too complicated to work, so I got a 27" Panasonic Tube for my room. It looks just as good as those HDTV models, if not better. It just weighs 200 lbs more. Anyways, I have band practice tonight with The Meadow Street Band. We're doing some Christmas numbers for Christmas In The Fan, and a shindig at a farm in New Kent this weekend.

Current Mood: Complacent.

Meade Skelton Through The Years...

On a lighter note, Ive been going through old family albums, with some pretty embarrassing pictures of myself over the years. I think we all go through that awkward stage, but mine seemed to hit at age seven, and just stuck with me! Anyways, here are just a smattering of various pictures of myself at some of my most tender and ridiculous moments.....

Baby Meade (Circa 1980)
I was so cute as a baby. What happened!??

Getting an early start on my EduMcation. Did I not realize the book was upside down?

I tried doing this the other day. It didn't quite work out as well.

Childhood
Was something nice, until my mom got sick and died when I was 11.

Middle School: 1990-1993
Middle School was torture. I had books thrown at me, I was punched and kicked on a daily basis, called names like "Porker" and "Watermelon bottom", and basically was treated like a dog. Its a wonder I didn't wind up in intensive care !

I might have not even been able to make the mile run in Gym class, but I was always an expert horseman!

Yikes!

Those Rough High School Years 1993-1997

High School Was Hell For Me. People talked behind my back, girls refused to go with me to the catillions, and even my own teacher called me a walking baseball. Luckily, I had my horse and my music to keep me happy!

Attacked By An Obama Lover !

Okay, well I noticed on my way to work this morning my radio was kinda fuzzy. So I looked over to the side- and the radio attena was gone! Yes, thats right, gone. Somebody must have ripped it right out of the socket. And I just know who did it. Some Obama supporter. Its not hard to figure out. I live in The Fan - aka Heathen Central. I have a big McCain sticker on my car, along with Jesus Is Lord, and The Little Grill Collective. I'm surrounded by Obama supporters on either side of me. Its pretty obvious. Also, they had ripped off a McCain sticker from my car before the election. I had to buy a stock of them to keep just in case.

Well I'm reporting this to the Police- You know these crazy Obama supporters- there's no telling what they might do. But I'm not gonna give in to them. They are terrorists! And I will not let them win. I'm gonna get new attena right after I report this to the authorities.

Other than that, not much else has been going on. I am still writing some new tunes. I want to write a song for some of my heroes- Anita Bryant, Sarah Palin, John McCain, George Bush, etc. I'm sure they will do well at the next Republican Convention!

POST EDIT:
I wanted to let people know that I am not racist. I guess if you don't support Barack Obama, suddenly you are a bigot. I don't care what race he is. I do care that he is a socialist , supports abortion and gay rights, and people actually trust him in charge. Not to mention, that he is power hungry, grew up in a church that hates America, and has ties to fundemental Islamic Terrorists.

Not to mention- both radio attenas were stolen from my car. I have never attacked any Barack Obama people. I see their stickers on their cars- and I never would even think of doing anything to it. I see their signs in their yard, and I have never done anything. I am a McCain supporter and in the minority here in Liberal Richmond. Why are they going after me?? Obama won. They are bad winners.

Meade Skelton On Wax !

I don't know where my other post went, so here it is again. The flip side of "My Loudoun County Home"

That there is a 1970's school room player. Even on that little thing, it sounds pretty dang clear . I sure hope that it sells like hot cakes, because the Lord helped me on these songs!

I found some cool stuff at Goodwill the other day:

-An Lp of Anita Bryant

-A Merry Christmas cookie plate

-A bag of soaps

-2 VHS tapes in mint condition with the shrink wrap still on: "Scrooge" (1951) and "His Girl Friday"

And a tickle me Elmo doll! I sure do like Goodwill better than The Salvation Army. They don't even take AMEX cards at The Salvation Army. Can you believe that?? Anyways, I sure do like my thrift store shoppping!
